The Environmental Health Section is responsible for all areas of food safety enforcement including food sampling.
There are more than 850 food businesses operating throughout the West Dunbartonshire area and all are inspected by Officers on a risk based basis.
In a year more than 1300 visits are carried out by the team covering inspections, food-sampling, complaint investigations and advising businesses and members of the public. More than 350 service requests are received each year from businesses and the public in connection with food safety issues. All are investigated and appropriate action taken. Officers must also respond to notifications of Food Alerts reported by the Food Standards Scotland.
The Section is an accredited training centre with The Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland and provides low cost food hygiene training courses to the local food business community.
If you have a food complaint or concerns about a food premises hygiene and standards, you can report this using the Environmental Health issues form.
