The Working4U Youth Learning Team offers support to children and young people, who have fallen behind at school, the opportunity to work on a one-to-one basis, or in a small group, with trained volunteer tutors.

Pupils can work on improving their reading, writing and number work skills.

  • Pupils work at their own pace and concentrate on their own learning needs.
  • They can use games, puzzles, worksheets, books etc., to help their learning.
  • They are tutored by a trained and caring adult.

Each pupil is tutored for an hour within a Supported Study Club which is run by a Working4U Supervising Tutor and a learning assistant.

Due to Covid-19 the service also uses Zoom to deliver 1-1 tutoring every Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday from 5.30pm to 8pm.

Provided restrictions remain lifted 3 OSHL Supported Study Clubs in West Dunbartonshire take place at:

  • Concord Community Centre on a Tuesday and Wednesday
  • Dalmuir Community Centre on a Thursday

Each study club has 2 learning slots:

  • 1st slot starts at 5.30pm – 6.30pm
  • 2nd slot starts at 6.45pm - 7.45pm

Pupils can attend any club, depending on availability of volunteer tutors.

Pupils must attend regularly.  Irregular attendance will result in the place being withdrawn.

Working4U Learning staff contact the school regarding Curriculum for Excellence levels for pupils and discuss progress and plan future work with teaching staff in the clubs.

Out of School Hours Learning is free of charge and on offer to families who live in West Dunbartonshire.
