Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs) protect a number of trees and woodlands in West Dunbartonshire. These orders prohibit the cutting down or any other works to protected trees without the Council’s consent.
The Tree Preservation Order Register details all the TPO's within West Dunbartonshire. Contact us before you carry out any works to a tree to find out if it is protected by a TPO. You can also contact us if you would like the Council to consider protecting trees you think are important to the appearance of an area.
If you wish to carry out any works to a tree or trees covered by a TPO, or within a Conservation Area, you must first obtain written permission from the Council. You can apply for permission online via the ePlanning Portal where you will find both the Application for Tree Works Form and the Application for Tree Works Guidance Notes.
